Scam Phone Call Social Security Arrest Warrant Scam

I had just completed submitting several documents to Social Security. This was an important matter that I need to resolve quickly and completely. I can easily visit the office, but I thought I would just submit the documentation by mail.

Imagine my surprise when I received a phone call message urging me to call them back.

The following video is an actual recording of the phone call Scam Phone from Social Security. I was also told there was an Arrest Warrant being issued to me.

Now to be fair, I knew this was not a legitimate call for the start. Social Security, will never call you to have you pay a bill. The agency would certainly never call you to say there is an arrest warrant issued to you. These situations do not happen over the telephone. If there was an arrest warrant issued to you, you would be arrested.

Another tell-tale sign was the caller asked to be paid with a “Target” card. Now let’s face it, the United States government may be hungry for money, but I’m sure they do not accept payments in Target Cards, like the one below:

The person on the phone identified himself as being from Social Security. He explained I owed $10,000. Before I knew it, he said, only $1,000 and then he said he would settle for $500.

I then told him the entire call was being recorded and I asked him if that was alright. He said no problem. Then I told him what he was doing was in violation of Federal law and I would report him to law enforcement. He said he understood. I also told him he would be going to jail for many many years. He seemed fine with that. I knew he did not speak English very well. He had no idea what I was talking about.

During the conversation, he kept asking for my Social Security number. He also wanted to know where it had been issued. I did not give him this information. I then asked for his Social Security number.

He also kept asking for my Credit Card information.

I refused to give him this information. He then started to read from his script. The script did not make much sense as he outlined all the charges I was facing. these charges included Drug Trafficking as well as money laundering. This was obviously a scam phone call.

The lesson is you need to be careful. Do not ever give out your Social Security number, Date of Birth, or Credit Card information to anyone you do not know or trust.

I’d greatly appreciate your comments below.
